Buenos Aries House and Family Pool |
Buenos Aries Mountain Resort has historical significance to Bago City and
the nearby Ma-ao. It is one of the points on the 21km Tri-Mountain Resort Marathon held in April.
The house stands in pleasant landscaped gardens at the foot of
the mountain. The complex boasts several pools. One of the pools is to Olympic 50mtr standard. Day
cabins are available around the poolside and along the river edge. Overnight rooms are available both around the
pool and in the house. Great views from the high points.
A number of shops provide food and snacks for visitors. A very
enjoyable spot to visit for a memorable day out with family and friends. For those wishing to stay longer, overnight accomodation
is also available.
En-route to Buenos Aries a quick visit to Ma-ao SC where the once mighty mill now lays silent
as a monument to the once thriving community. The infirmary and old office buildings also stand as a silent reminder
of the wealthy past.
However the community is certainly still very active and the Ma-ao spirit can be experienced
at fiesta time. The street party is a good time to see the locals celebrating. Music and parades provide
a carnival atmosphere as people gather to enjoy themselves.

Humbrto's Farm Centre - Tree Houses |
For families with young children
a place worth visiting is Humberto's Farm Resort. Humberto's is situated by the river on the road to Ma-ao.
Here, well presented gardens with tree houses and play area for young children is a good spot to spend some quality time
with the family.

World Class Climbing Wall |
Closer still in Bago and very close to the RTNHS is the sports centre. Here another pool is available
along with football, volley ball, basket ball, track events training and other outdoor facilities. A large indoor
centre has badmington courts, table tennis and a workd class climbing wall which would be the envy of many cities worldwide.
This New Year was celebrated with a firework display donated to the city. Several thousand spectators ooohd! and aaahd!
to the spectacular aerial display.
The water front is a popular place for a morning fitness / workout.
Here the pounds can be seen dropping off as devotees carry out their morning constitutional exercise.
The water front is also a popular place to visit on Friday evenings for live entertainment.
The city public plaza is the hub of the city with the gold monument of General
Araneta a reminder of that historic event when the Spanish were driven out. The "Big Bluff" is now celebrated
each 5th November.
The plaza is particularly pleasant to take an evening stroll around and view the Christmas lights or
watch the Christmas parade judging.

Assembling for the Ma-ao street parade |
For fun the street fairs are well worth a visit. A carnival atmosphere rivalling Rio can be experienced
as dancers parade through the crowded streets. A large fair ensures plenty of activity and shows and presentations take
place throughout the evening as judging to select best parade and a Beauty Queen. The whole population seem to
turn out to celebrate.
