Mambukal has many attractions. The route is very scenic and beautiful and
is a worthy trip on its own.
Mambukal lies at the foot of Mt Kanlaon and is approached from Bacolod by a road with great views
of the countryside. The resort has day cabins located along the river and cottages for overnight stay. The scenic, fast
flowing river is sourced from the volcano. Hot and cold springs flow - the spa also boasts sulphur springs and
mud baths.
Other features include a boating lake, butterfly farm and swimming pools (both freshwater and sulphur
spring water). A quiet garden and spa has been donated by Japanese sponsors.
For those energetic enough, there are seven waterfalls to climb travelling through a rain forest.
Many colonies of fruit bats hanging in the canopy above.
Allow plenty of time and retained energy for the climb as it is quite arduous. By fall six you may
be puffing heavily (if you make it this far) - fall seven is still a further 30 minutes to go. Thankfully
the return journey is all downhill.
At dusk the air above fills with circling fruit bats as they become active. So make sure you
have finished your BBQ in time.
Even the fast flowing river is like a strong spa as the water pummels your body and is a good relaxation
after a hot cllimb to the falls so leave aside some time for that.
This is a well maintained complex with entertainment for a family of all ages.
